A Safe and Gentle Place to Explore What You Are Carrying
Welcome and thank you for visiting Sentra Counselling
Beginning counselling can feel daunting, especially when speaking to someone new. It is natural to feel unsure at first. My role is to help you feel as comfortable, respected and supported as possible from the very beginning.
This is why I offer a free initial consultation. It gives us space to meet, talk through what has been bringing you to counselling and see whether we feel like we are a good fit. If you choose to continue, I am committed to
creating a space that feels safe, open and guided by care, compassion and understanding.
Hello, my name is Jodie and I am an integrative counsellor offering short and long term online counselling for adults. I work with clients across the UK and South Africa, providing sessions via a secure online platform.
My background began in South Africa, where I studied and worked in the mental health field for over eight years. I have experience supporting individuals across mental health organisations, charities, clinics and school settings in both South Africa and the United Kingdom. This work has shaped a deep respect for resilience, diversity and the different ways people experience and navigate emotional challenges.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2016, followed by two honours degrees in Applied Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Psychology at the University of Reading.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Health Professions Council of South Africa and I work in line with their ethical frameworks to ensure safe, professional and reflective practice.
My work is guided by an integrative approach, meaning I draw from a range of evidence based modalities to tailor support to each individual. This approach recognises that every person’s experiences, challenges, and goals are unique. By integrating different perspectives, counselling becomes a collaborative space where we can deepen understanding, build insight, and support lasting change in a way that feels grounded and compassionate.
Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns with curiosity and compassion – supporting deeper self-understanding, emotional balance, and meaningful personal growth. You are not alone in this journey. Let me help you unpack, explore, and find your centre again.
In our work together, sessions are shaped around you. I offer an integrative and flexible approach. This means counselling sessions are adapted to your individual needs rather than following a one size fits all structure.
You can expect a thoughtful and collaborative process where we work at a pace that feels manageable and respectful. I am committed to maintaining high professional standards, engaging in ongoing supervision and continuing professional development to ensure the care I provide remains ethical, informed and supportive.
My practice draws from a range of approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Person-Centred Therapy
Narrative therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Gestalt Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy
Solution focused brief therapy
Mindfulness-Based techniques
This integrative approach allows session to be tailored to your unique needs, helping us work collaboratively and at a pace that feels safe and supportive.

I offer counselling sessions online for clients across the UK and South Africa, providing flexibility and comfort while ensuring a safe and confidential way to explore your experiences.
Counselling can be short-term (focused on a specific goal or difficulty) or longer-term, allowing for deeper exploration and personal growth, depending on what feels right for you.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at £65 for clients in the UK and R600 for clients in South Africa.
I also offer a free 30 minute initial triage call so we can discuss your needs, answer any questions, and decide whether we’re a good fit to work together.
A sliding scale is available to make therapy more accessible based on individual circumstances.
Please note that I do not work with health insurance companies.
If you feel that counselling with me is the right fit, I will send you a short agreement outlining how we will work together.
This covers confidentiality, fees, payment details and cancellation policies. The agreement is shared via email and completed prior to starting counselling.
We will start with a 50 minute assessment session to understand what brings you to counselling. It is charged at £50 for clients in the UK and R400 for clients in South Africa.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions cancelled with less notice or unattended will be charged in full.
If you do not arrive within 10 minutes of the scheduled time, the session will be considered cancelled unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Likewise, I will always provide notice should I need to reschedule.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about online counselling, or if you would like to arrange a free initial triage call. This gives us an opportunity to talk through what has brought you to counselling, how online therapy may support you, and whether I am the right counsellor to work with you.
All enquiries are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
Research shows online counselling can be just as effective as in person therapy for many concerns, while offering flexibility and comfort from your own space.
Everything that is said within the counselling room is private - this is one of the main ways counselling and therapy differ from talking to a friend or relative. Once you are comfortable with the format of weekly sessions and the safe space they provide, you will find the freedom to speak in confidence is of great value.
Note that there are some situations where you may be a risk to yourself or others, and there the law requires that I notify an authority; in these cases I may not be able to keep total confidentiality. Breaking confidentiality is very rare though, and only happens after the person concerned has been informed.
Usually I am asked this question by people who are nervous about entering into counselling, or when they are looking for support in coming to see a therapist. This anxiety is understandable, but a key aspect of therapy is that you should feel free to talk about any issues you feel are important to you. Having someone else with you who can be connected those issues makes this opening-up more difficult, so for this reason I do not see clients accompanied by friends or family.
This varies from person to person. Some clients prefer short term focused work, while others benefit from longer term support. We will review this together.
My aim is to offer a first appointment - known as an initial assessment - within 1-2 weeks. Then we would arrange a set number of counselling sessions to take place at the same time every week, that is convenient for you and where I have availability. How quickly these sessions can begin will depend on the availabity of that free ‘slot’.
